We’re Moving!!! Our Official Website is LIVE 🎉🥳

A new website, a broader focus on the Creator Economy, our first physical magazine tease etc

Hello! 🙋🏽‍♂️I know it’s been a while since you last heard from me (since May!), but I promise it’s for the best reason. Over the past few months, we’ve been working tirelessly to bring something special to you—something that’s not just new but designed with you in mind. We’ve been busy creating a platform that offers a more optimized experience, one that we can fully control and shape to meet your needs and our vision. Trust me, there’s a lot coming

First Up, I’m Excited to Announce: We’re Moving!!This has been a labor of love, and I’m so happy to finally share it with you. Our official website, thejollofdiary.com, is live, and we have you to thank for this milestone.

Your support for our work nudged us to take this leap. Every part of this site—from the design to the management—has been crafted by our in-house team. We chose to build everything from scratch, rather than relying on pre-existing themes, because The Jollof Diary is evolving, and we need the flexibility to explore new forms as we grow. For now, my favourite part of this site is our contributors’ corner. Can’t wait to hear what YOU like about it 😅

We’ve spent weeks moving hundreds of pieces of content from Substack ❤️ to the new site. While we’re still ironing out a few things, I believe it’s ready enough for you to start exploring. Which brings me to the next big news…PS: If you’re already subscribed here on Substack, you don’t need to subscribe again on the website. All that has been taken care of for you ❤️

We’re Expanding! I’ve always been fascinated by the Creator Economy, and now I’m diving in deeper—bringing you along for the ride. Just like we did with music business nuts & bolts back in 2019, we’re exploring new spaces. Moving forward, you’ll find more than just music business insights on our platform. We’re expanding our scope to include digital and social strategy/content, and other tenets of the Creator Economy. This pivot reflects our understanding that the music business doesn’t exist in a vacuum; it’s intertwined with so many other creative tenets. That’s why we’re reshaping our value proposition to double down on “Data, Business, and Market Intelligence on Africa’s Creator Economy”.

I’m beyond excited to hear your thoughts and suggestions on what you’d like to see or learn about the Creator Economy and Music Business. After all, we can’t do this without you.

And For Thee Second Announcement… We recently launched our very first physical magazine/report, focusing on how Nigerian users streamed music on Spotify in the first half of 2024.

I’ll share more details on how to get your hands on it in my next email.

For now, I’d love to know: How do you feel about the new website? Does it serve you well?
