Top 5 most streamed Afrobeats albums on Spotify & the possible income generated

Between 2019 - 2022, Afrobeats recorded some of it's biggest moments, and these are the 5 most streamed Afrobeats Albums of all-time on Spotify.

Spotify has been an important streaming platform for Afrobeats artists since the rise of the streaming era, despite arriving Nigeria less than 2 years ago, some fans used VPNs or modified versions to access the service, so far Nigerian Afrobeats artists records the most streams collectively in the world above any other genre in Africa. 

Numerous albums has been released by Afrobeats artists, commercially successful and boundary breaking albums from both A List artists and breakthrough artists, however these top 5 rules on the Global streaming giant, Spotify:

#1. AFRICAN GIANT - BURNA BOY 

The 2019 breakthrough album of Nigeria's Burna Boy, was a major success in countries around the world spawning weeks spent in both Dutch & Francophone countries album charts, the album has so far generated 626.7 Million streams on Spotify & still records as high as 484K daily streams as of 11/12/2022.

The album also ranks as the 1,641st most streamed albums in the world on the platform.

#2. CKay THE FIRST - CKay

The 2019 extended play by Nigerian Afrobeats producer, songwriter & singer, wasn't a major commercial boom on release, as of 2021 August ending, the extended play was barely over 20 Million streams on the platform, a track “Love Nwantiti” propelled the realisation of the extended play which led 6/7 of the tracks under 100,000 rise to over 1 Million streams. 

The EP went ahead to penetrate as far as the USA official album chart, it has so far garnered 621.1 Million streams on the platform & still recorded 576K daily streams as of 11/12/2022.

The extended play also ranks at the 1663rd most streamed albums in the world on the platform.

One of the few Afrobeats albums to be certified anywhere in the world and biggest African album in the largest music market till date, surprisingly makes it to the 3rd position, released in the last quarter of 2020 and supported by a deluxe edition in the summer of 2021, the album has so far received 545.1 Million streams on Spotify, whilst earning nearly 0.1% of the total figure daily, 539K as of 11/12/2022.

The album ranks inside the top 2,000 most streamed albums of all-time on the platform, at #1909.

The album is no doubt on the run to become the most streamed Afrobeats album of all-time at this pace, it also ranks at #2,144 of the most streamed albums of all-time on the platform.

#5. PLAYBOY - FIREBOY DML

Released in 2022, also the 3rd studio album of the Nigerian singer has become his biggest streaming project yet, with over 344.9 Million streams received, it's placed as the #5 top streamed projects by an Afrobeats artist whilst earning 776K daily streams as of 11/12/2022.

The album ranks as the #2,282 most streamed albums of all-time on the platform.
