Godwin Tom is Pooling His Over a Decade Long Journey into a 12-Part Ebook Series

This is important for artists, managers and music business enthusiasts in general.

The book is dubbed Journey of a Learner and the first part, I Just Got Here will be released on Sunday, 24th May (Godwin’s Birthday) for N2,000 only and you can pre-order here.

Let me hint on why this is a must-have.

Godwin Tom, who's worked with artists like Davido, Wizkid, Waje, MI, Wande Coal, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, SDC etc details the PRACTICALITY of navigating the music business in Africa in this e-book. You don’t see much of this happen on a regular.

I was an attendee of Godwin's #10YearsALearner Pod session with MI 2 years ago where they discussed everything including their shortcomings; really, what an amazing session that was. I'm confident this book will magnify the blurs about artist management in Nigeria to an extent and I'm enjoining any music enthusiast to cop one.

The book chronicles his experiences, successes, mistakes, failures etc and the goal is for rookie music industry players to learn from his errors and be better than their predecessors. Guys, this book is hinged on real life experience and lessons; no assumption, no prejudice whatsoever.

For some reason, I gravitate a lot more towards reading about people’s real experience as opposed to a deluge of articles we have out there that mostly leans on some opinion - that could be wrong anyway. I read articles where writers who aren’t in the business or have an actual understanding of it wrap delusion with vocabularies. Don’t snooze!

If more of such books get churned out on a regular in the Nigerian music industry, you’ll see that young music business enthusiasts will have less questions to ask and also spend less time making mistakes and struggling to correct them.

Take it from a thorough surfer like myself, you might have come across a bunch of articles online about the music industry; issue is these articles are often tailored to suit the region where the writer is based and operates in. Those articles are great for understanding the overview of subjects about the music business but real learning comes when it’s tailored to the region that you operate in. You could read stuff about the Western market and realize its not exactly applicable to Afrobeats or the Nigerian music industry.

This is why while we reach for every edition of Passman’s music business bible, we should also consider having an understanding on how it works locally and there are no better ways to ensure this other than long-time players like Godwin, telling our story.

I enjoin everyone to cop this, not just managers. Artists, you can do well to get this for y’all managers too. It’s a necessity.
